Codswallop and Balderdash
This project required two characters to represent Codswallop & Balderdash. The name of the shop is English slang for nonsense, and stocks a variety of cool vintage and retro items including clothes, nik-naks, and furniture. We turned the owners Emma & Rob who front the shop, into sort of caricatures and drew inspiration from Hanna-Barbera’s Dick Dastardly and Muttley, ‘catch the pigeon’ era.
The characters idea or story is this shady couple off-loading dodgy goods in a back alley sort of thing, giving you the deal of the century, think ’Lock Stock’.
The type needed a look of vintage, bold and animated.
The shop also needed a long and slender version of the logo specifically for the shop signage due to the sign laws of the property.
